POSITION SUMMARY: Provide necessary emotional and educational support to children, youth, and their families through interventions that are strengths based and solution focused. Build families’ skills and competencies, increase involvement in healthy alternatives and access to other services, and influence behavioural changes to improve parenting and family functioning. Mediate family issues, provide advocacy for family and children, and assist with referrals to appropriate community agencies



  • Combination of education and related experience in the human service field.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle to use for work purposes
  • Emergency first aid with CPR B.
  • Criminal record check


  • Follow policies in the CBFRS Policy Manual and relevant Program Manual(s)
  • Provide monthly written reports outlining goals, strategies and progress of service
  • Provide short- term intensive support and interpersonal skill enhancement services to families in order to reduce child risk as per contract
  • Provide services in a collaborative manner with MCFD and community service providers
  • Provide necessary emotional/educational support to children, youth, and their families through strengths based/ solution focused interventions
  • Participate in regular meetings and consult with Team Leader or designate
  • In emergencies, contact Team Leader, Executive Director, Social Worker and/or Helpline for Children as appropriate
  • Provide service to families on a flexible schedule, at times and locations that are convenient to the family
  • Provide updates as required to the appropriate social worker (if service is mandated) and to the Team Leader at least monthly
  • Review goals with service recipients every 3 months
  • Take part in professional development
